sun rash???

by msmuck, Apr 23, 2008 02:49PM
I am 28 years old and for two years now I get a red blotchy rash from being in the sun.  Usually this will start about two hours of being in the sun and it takes 4 days to go away.  It's obvious that I should use sunblock but do you know what this problem is called and/or should I be concerned?  Thank you in advance

Hi,

What you describe seems like sweat dermatitis or heat rash.

You should try to keep the area dry and clean. Try some powder to absorb the sweat. Use a medicated sunscreen and try to avoid sun exposure. Was the areas frequently with fresh water.

If the symptoms are still persistent, consult your dermatologist and get a proper clinical evaluation done.

Let us know if you have any doubts and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Good luck.
