sunspot changing

I have had what I thought was a sunspot on over my right cheekbone for quite a few years.  It is a patch about the size of a dime, but not perfectly round.  Lately, when rubbing my cheek, I noticed that it felt thick, not really on the surface, but underneath it.  The whole area of the sunspot now has a thickened mass under it.....not visible to the eye, but can be easily felt.  Should this be of concern?  Thanks.

Since the sunspot has been changing its appearance you need to get it examined from a dermatologist once and rule out any malignant changes which may be occurring. As a rule, if you notice changes in the mark’s color, height, size or shape, you should have a dermatologist evaluate it. You also should have it checked if it bleeds, oozes, itches, appear scaly, or become tender or painful.
