superfacial second degree burn

superfacial second degree burn

3 months ago I went to a doctor to treat "hyperkeratosis" on my back and arms. She gave me peeling creams and my skin was sensitive to them. As I used them for 3 weeks my skin started to peel and it turned to black. I stoped using the creams. My skin completely heald but I have a pigmentation problem. It has been 3 months since I stopped the peeling creams and sterted to use te moisturizing cream and my skin is getting butter but still pigmented. Would my skin return to its normal color? How long would it takes for the pigmentation to return to norml? I had attached a picture that is exactly similar to my burn.
thanks

Hi, thanks for your query. It normally takes 6 to 8 months to start taking effect however I would like to share that not all hyperpigmentation are treated successfully with drugs.
If it is causing you a lot of concern then please contacts a plastic surgeon for alt options.
Take care.

Hello,
What you are having is post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is a condition where there is an excess amount of pigment following a disease process that affects the skin.  Without treatment, this usually takes about 6 months to resolve and for the skin color to go back to its normal color.  Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color.  Microdermabrasion can also be done, but this might require several sessions.  Skin resurfacing using lasers is also an option.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
