I think I might have some sort of infection. I have a sore on my face that I thought was just a regular pimple, but it has become extremely swollen. Not just to sore itself, but around the sore. The swelling goes about an inch from every side of the sore. you can tell but by looking at my face. I am on a medication called humira which weakens the immune system. I have just been treated for an eye infection recently as well. Is this something that I should get looked at right away? What could it possibly be?
I cannot confirm without examination but it can be a boil. Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus.Hair follicles that are blocked by greasy creams, petroleum jelly, or similar products are more vulnerable to infection.
Pls keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.
I hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted in case you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
This is Lila Ann Asato and this past week i couldn't afford my facial wash and tried over the counter "Oil of Olay" facial wash the next day i noticed my cheeks begin to itch and it started out as a pimple and accidently squeezed it once or twice trying to pop it however after doing that my cheeks got red, swollen, and it feels hot to the touch and feels like theres a heartbeat i'm terrified because its close to my eyes and head. Not to seem conceded but i do have beautiful flawless skin and now my face looks like i will have a scar because of this monster. On Mar. 24th 10 i got so terrified that i went to the emergency room and waited 5 hrs just to have a doctor look at it he told me its not the face wash and that i might have had a blackhead or whitehead that got infected prior to applying this face wash. I didn't like this doctor because all he told me was that i needed antibiotics and i felt very uncomfortable because i wanted to ask some questions however i did not say anything as to what it was and how to go about treating it so i asked the nurse and she was more helpful than the doctor was she told me to apply warm compress to my face and take the antibiotics which the doctor presribed which i'm now taking "Cleocin (clindamycin) 300mg take 1 capsule 4 times a day for seven days however it seems to be getting bigger like the size of a pea and its still feels hot and throbbing! Its been 4 days now and in my opinion it dosen't seem to be getting any better. What i do see is a tiny little hole on the pimple but don't see any pus-like fluid. The emergency doctor told me i need to follow-up with my private doctor who is on vacation and will not be back till Mon. I am so scared i have been boiling and applying the hottest water my skin can take but it just seems to be getting redder and more swollen and throbbing! Once in awhile i put hydrogen peroxide and betadine because i don't know what else to do until my doctor gets back from vacation. PLEASE HELP I'M SCARED!!!!
I am going through a similar situation. My face has really good days and it's bad days. My face is completely clear except one side of my cheek has 3 hard like bumps that feels like they need to pop. Now I know yr not supposed to touch yr face period but I am not one who can have bumps on my face! I freak out! So I try anyway possible to pop it so it goes down and of course I make matters worse!!!! Now I have these 3 throbbing zit like bumps on my face!! I promise not to touch them again but I'm desperate to know what works best. What can I put on them now? I can't even leave my house I'm so bummed! Please help!
Please help. This has been going on for about 2 and a half days now. My right side cheek is completely red/purple ish but in a triangle form (starting at the under eye circles to the corner of my lip) it's swollen, hot to the touch and throbbing. My face never has anything wrong with it besides occasional hives. My mother has this condition but my twin sister doesn't. Could this be genetic or an infection?
