tinea versicolor?

tinea versicolor?

I've been to 2 different dermatologists about my situation, and I still don't have an answer as to what my 'white spots' are.  I believe I have tinea versicolor, but I have them in a weird spot.  I have a couple on my legs and one on my back, but most are on my butt/groin area.  I think i'm getting more down there, and I've been experiencing some irritation/burning to the skin.  I have been tested for STDs and common vaginal infections/bacteria and I'm fine.  I've read about tinea versicolor treatments, but I'm nervous to put them on those sensitive areas.  Can tinea versicolor occur in this area?  Can it be causing burning/irritation?
