tiny painless underarm bumps

by repeat, Jan 03, 2007 12:00AM
I'm male, 49 years old, in good health.

Since as far back as 30 years I've noticed a couple of tiny (smaller than the head of a pin) painless, almost colorless, bumps in my underarm area.  I recently noticed that the number is up to about 6 or 8 on each side.  Some stick out enough that I simply plucked them off.  That hurt a little and there was some bleeding.  I looked at what came off with the aid of a magnifier.  It's definitely living tissue, not a cyst, pimple or scar.  It looks like a cluster of still smaller nodules, soft and whitish.

I have moles on my body.  Is that what these are?  I'm guessing I should just leave them alone but now I'm curious.  I'd appreciate any suggestions about what these are.

My best guess is that these are skin tags--little pieces of flesh common under the arms, usually inherited.  No need to do anything about them unless they bother, in which case they can be burned off.  (New ones will grow, of course, over time.)  Show your doctor next time you go, just so you'll know for sure what they are.

Take care.

Hey, Just to let you know those things are called :skin tags, i get them all the time and you can really bleed from doing so, so i suggest just leaving them because they don't affect you in any way, just a suggestion
