treatment for underarm rash?

by stormy584, Jun 19, 2008 11:27AM
About two weeks ago I developed an underarm rash.  It was mainly pimply so I used an acne pad to clean it twice a day.  The pimples cleared-up but now there is just a red, itchy, blotchy RASH.  Any ideas what I could use OTC?

Hi,
The red itchy rash seems to be an allergic re-action. You could try OTC anti-histamines for it.
The underarms are a common place for allergies due to the use of deodarants and perfumes.Contact dermatitis is the name for any skin inflammation that occurs when the skin's surface comes in contact with a substance originating outside the body.
The symptoms can take many forms: redness, itching, crusting etc.
Y calamine lotion to the area. Do not use any cosmetic products.

I have had a rash in the armpits for the last seven years.  Yes.  I am not making this up.  I have seen doctors and tried a cream.  The only thing that started to clear it up was a newer (at the time) pill for vaginal yeast infections.  I only got three pills.  As soon as they were gone it came back full.  The rash is kind of purple.  The middle gets red and stinks badly when it is hot.  Also, the hair is gone under my arms.  Any help would be appreciated.  I haven't seen a dermatogist because I can't afford one.  Any help?  Any home remedies?
NOTE:  I do not have diabetes but am heavy set.  I did work cleaning an oven and tearing a mobile home down November of 01 before it began.  I didn't bath immediately afterwards because I had to pick up my children.  HELP!!!!

THANK YOU!  I did switch to a deo. for sensitive skin, which seemed to help a little bit.  I will try the calamine lotion.  Thanks again.
