upper arm itch, florida

by ullika, Nov 07, 2009 02:02PM
i want to put this out for others to read, especially someone called terry who seems to have the same problem and was told by the doctor that she is obsessing.
i moved to florida seven years ago (2002) and started to have this upper arm itch syndrome.
the outside area on my upper arms seem to start itching like crazy and nothing relieves it except for applying ice. there is no rash nor does the skin in that area appear to look any different anywhere else. mostly it itches when i settle down to sleep at night although it may start itching during the day on occasion. once iced down it is better not to touch the area or blow on it or have body heat in the vicinity. it seems to be happening for a period of several weeks and then stop for no obvious reason.
i don't have any other health problems except for occasional migraines, infact for my age (53) i am in excellent shape. i work out and eat a wholefood diet with lots of organic veggies and occasional meat but get plenty of other protein of animal and vegetable source. i now get chropractic care and my xray shows that my neck vertebra are too straight which is the very likely cause of my migraines. i do wonder if that is the possible reason for the itch as the muscles tighten up in response to the straight neck, irritating nerves and other tissues on the way. maybe the reason why it is worse at night is because of the neck position when lying down.
i guess we will see if these symptoms disappear with my neck curve getting closer to normal.
