Hi,

The causes of neuralgias are varied. This includes: chemicals that can cause nerve irritation, inflammation, trauma, compression by adjacent structures such as in tumors or inflamed tissues, and infections. In many cases, however, the cause is unknown or unidentifiable. Neuralgias are most common in elderly persons, but they can occur at any age. It would be best to see your doctor for further evaluation and management. A complete history and physical examination including laboratory tests such as xray are needed to reach a diagnosis.

Take care and regards.
