very scared

Im hoping you can address some concerns,  I made a rash decision and fingered a stripper. Approximately 7 days later I developed a sore/cut  that turned into a blister, when I saw the sore /cut I tried pulling the skin out with my fingernail. So I'm wondering if it was just an infection. There was absolutely no pain , Im convinced I have Herpes Whitlow . On top of my bad judgement , I picked the scab , which has left a circular scar that seems  to be pitted.

Im hoping you can address my concern. Is it true that now that I have a scar my re-uccurent outbreaks will be more painful. Thats what has me petrified is that I did permanent damage , the initial outbreak didn't  hurt at all.

Is it also possible that I could have had something else, other than herpes ,  the day prior I had my hand in plant water , so Im wondering if I got infected somehow.  I have also read the typical  stages of herpes are to start as a blister and then rupture , whereas mine started as a cut /sore and I tried picking the skin out with my fingernail and then it blistered.

Can you please address one more concern.

if it was herpes whitlow, the fact that my finger now has a  scarr , if the virus re-uccrs , is it going to be a lot more painful since I have a scar on my finger.  I have read on the internet that a scar is damage to my skin. So I'm now freaked that if it re-uccurs , it will be a lot more painful , and make the scar worse

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

I can understand your concern for this blister like sore on your finger after coming in contact with the vagina of a stripper.

From your description it looks like the blister has been caused by local trauma due to plucking of the sore rather than any herpes blisters. You are apprehensive regarding herpetic whitlow but herpetic whitlow presents as painful sores rather than non painful blisters. Typical symptoms are swelling, reddening and tenderness of the skin of infected finger. Then there may be fever and swollen lymph nodes. Small, clear vesicles initially form individually, then merge and become cloudy. In your case there is a single sore and that too painless. So herpetic whitlow is less likely.

Although herpetic whitlow can be diagnosed by clinical examination but if you are apprehensive regarding the status of herpes then you can get investigated for it. The tests that can be done to confirm the diagnosis are viral cultures, Polymerase chain reaction and immunofluorescent microscopy. You can get these tests done to rule out any HSV1 or HSV 2 infection which may be lying dormant in the body also.

Regarding this sore, you can apply warm compresses. Keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics and manipulation of the blister. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. If the symptoms persist then you may get oral antibiotics prescribed from your doctor.

Hope that this information helps and hope that you get better soon.

Wishing you good health.
