warts or follicitus

warts or follicitus

About a month ago, i noticed a bunch of bumps in my pubic hair region.  I went to a doctor because i was worried that it was warts.  He told me he did not think it was warts and that he thought it was follictus.  He had me come back four weeks later (today).  The bumps are still there andhe said he still doe not think they are warts, but that they are probably follictus.  He wants me to see a dermatologist if it is still there in a few weeks.  I have popped them open and they bleed alot.  I asked him if he was sure it wasn't and STD and he said he was pretty sure, but not to have sex untill they clear up.  I thought that i saw it could be molluscum on his papers from the previous visit, but he wrote down follictus on my paper today.  The bumps are only in my pubic region.  Does this sound like warts or another STD.  I know he told me he did not think they were warts twice, but i am not convinced since he wants me to see a dermatologist.  I am just kinda worried.  What does this sound like to you?

It sounds like folliculitis, as the doctor said.  I think he was wise to send you to a skin doctor for consultation, if he's not totally sure.  To make the dermatologist's visit useful, please leave the bumps alone until you get seen.  But this is likely not an STD.

Take care.

My apologies for hijacking this thread, but I had a post a ways down, and I don't feel as though the answers to my questions were suitable. I mean no offense by that at all, I just.. asked numerous times as to WHAT the spot on my nose could be. Cyst, scar, blocked pore, what have you.. and received no answer to what it was except that "leaving IT alone would make it go away faster".

Answer: I don't know for sure, but it sounds like a blocked pore.  Please leave it alone and wait it out.  Thanks.

Thank you. =)  I appreciate the reply.

Just to be safe, I've scheduled an appointment with a local dermetologist to find out what this is. I'll mention the possibility of a blocked pore to see what he thinks.

I just wanted to share: I had jock-itch looking red spots in my pubic region and genital area and a bunch of dermatologists also said it was folliculitis. Eventually I found someone who did a skin test and determined that it was Candida.  One type of folliculitis could be caused by Candida, that of the fungal variety.  Sometimes folliculitis is fungal whereas other times it is bacterial.
As soon as I started treating it as Candida it went away.
Good luck!
