white patches of skin

My back has lighter patches of skin when the rest of my skin is tan. I have some white spots on my stomach as well. I already went to the dermatologist and took oral medication for tinea versicolor but i'm not so sure if that's the reason why I have this skin discoloration. My mom brought up how she has an alcohol allergy and she stopped drinking alcohol...ever since then her spots started to disappear. My brother has the spots as well but he rarely goes out in the sun...I drink alcohol maybe three to four times a month. Do you think these spots are from alcohol or sun exposure?
