white spots oon face

A few months ago after some dental work my 6 yr old developed a little white dot prob a little smaller than a dime on his right side of his face. I figured it would go away but, no now the right side has a few spots as well. They do not tan in the sun just looks like he lost skin pigimentatiion . Any clue on this issue?

Two possibilities are there. Without examination,confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be pityriasis versicolor or pityriasis alba. Pityriasis versicolor is caused by an overgrowth of a yeast fungus and are found mainly on sun exposed areas.Treatment is by topical antifungals. Pityriasis alba is a common hypopigmented dermatitis.This is a self-limited disorder that usually resolves by adulthood.Severe cases may benefit by Psoralen plus ultraviolet light A photochemotherapy (PUVA).

Apply selsun shampoo or Lamisil on the white spot and if the symptoms persist then pls get it evaluated from a dermatologist.
