will cortisone injections make your hair fallout?

Hi, I have been receiving cortisone injections for treatment of my traction alopecia in both temple areas. One side of my hair appears to be growing while the other side appears to be falling out. Can cortisone steroid injections actually cause your hair to fall out?

Thanks for your answer, I really appreciate your time on this topic. I have been doing a lot of research on this topic and a lot of people have had the same results-steroids making their hair fall out. I do not know why this is happening and neither does my dermatologist. Do you think the steroids may have made the hair go into the telogen phase, will it regrow?

This is very concerning and if steroids injections to the scalp cause hair loss, then maybe this isnt an option doctors should offer for those of us already devastated by hair loss\slow growing hair, etc.

Thanks,

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Steroid shots are usually given for regrowth of hair in alopecia and they do not cause any hair loss as their side effect. If you are having any hair loss after the steroid shots, then you must get it checked from a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
