worried about spots on penis, pls help

by phinias, Nov 14, 2003 12:00AM
HI,

Hope you can help, about 2 and a half months ago after sex, I noticed that I had a slightly tingly feeling on my penis, from then on I have been watching it like crazy...three small red marks have appeared between the head and shaft. I went to my doc and as a preventative measure he gave me a few antibiotics incase I had picked something up, I also had a swab done and it came back negative. The problem is that I still have this tingly sensation every now and then and the head gets fairly red during erection and then gets kind of blotchy after...I have been to my doc twice and the std clinic once and have gotten the same answer, that Its just me being nervous, that its not herpes etc. leave it alone and stop looking at it... the fact remains that the marks are still there and from time to time I will have a tiny sting right at the opening on the head. Everyone that had checked me out has said it looks normal, but when I see it I freak out, I don't recall ever having red marks before, I have been petrified it was herpes and that it may hit, but my doc said if I had herpes and had an outbreak I would know for sure. I am hoping you can help me resolve this and figure out if these marks will ever go away or not? They don't hurt and don't seem to have gotten bigger. When I am not erect it all looks pretty normal, but when I am erect it is red and the marks are pretty visible. I made the big mistake of looking at pics on the net of herpes and have been totally paranoid ever since. Hope you can help.

Sure doesn't sound like herpes to me.  It sounds more like you got a few bumps from friction or heat, or perhaps they were always there and you never looked.

You've been to the doctors enough, I think.  It's time typo take their word for it and move on.  Don't look down there!

Best.

Dr., I noticed two white bumps on my penis about a month ago and went to a doctor to have them examined for fear of an STD.  He said they were cysts, they wouldnt go away, but they were nothing to worry about.  Now, a month later, one seems to be infected.  I has gotten a little bigger, now has some redness and there is minor irritable pain when I touch it or something rubs against it.  What is this, and what can I do to help make it go away?  It really is quite annoying.

I'm sorry that your doctor told you that people that have herpes always know for sure. That is not true. If you personally suspect that you might have herpes then you should go and get tested. Be sure and ask specifically for a herpes test because it's not included in the rourtine std testing process. There are many people that have herpes that do not get signs or symptoms. I am surprised that the medical professionals on this forum do not recommend herpes testing for folks that are suspecting it. Herpes testing should be routine anyway! If you need more information on herpes you can check out www.yoshi2me.com
If you want to be sure then getting tested can't hurt. That way you will know and can sleep better at night knowing one way or the other.

Hang in there,

Angela
