worried sick - do I have malignant melanoma?

I have more than 50 moles and frequently inspect them - last week I discovered 2 moles on my arm with black spots inside them (crusty) and one on my leg. I immediately made an appointment with a dermatologist but waiting til thursday is so grueling. Any back ache makes me think I have melanoma spread to everywhere in my body.

Does anyone know if it is possible to have severla spots that are melanoma in stage 0 on different parts of the skin at the same time or if this means that the cancer has spread to my whole body..

Please, anyone who could give me some advice would be appreciated.

Hi Miriam,

Excessive sun exposure throughout life, people with many moles, fair skin, atypical moles, and the presence of a close relative who have had melanoma are at an increased risk to develop melanoma.  A popular method for remembering the signs and symptoms of melanoma is the mnemonic ABCD: Asymmetrical skin lesion, Border of the lesion is irregular, Color: melanomas usually have multiple colors; Diameter: moles greater than 5 mm are more likely to be melanomas than smaller moles. The best treatment is early detection. A quick look from a dermatologist and a biopsy can confirm whether a lesion is suspicious for melanoma.
