MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

A wound infection usually presents with pain or tenderness, localised swelling, or redness,  and associated fever, delayed healing, discoloration of tissues both within and at the wound margins, or abnormal smell coming from wound site.

Are there other signs or symptoms present? What caused the cut? It would be best to have it evaluated by your doctor and to update your anti-tetanus shot as well. A culture of the wound would also help indicate the microorganisms present and which antibiotic may be used.

It is important to keep the wound clean and dry. Avoid manipulating to prevent further infection. Take care and keep us posted.
