Alpha Lipoic Acid side effect

Alpha Lipoic acid is supposed to be good for maintaining healthy Blood sugar levels among other things. I started taking it and have noticed a distinct smell after urinating, like a cross between asparagus and grape juice. Is this excess glucose being eliminated?

What does the your ALA ingredient label say? Mine has 300mg ALA, gelatin (capsule), rice flour, and magnesium stearate (used as a binding agent).  Perhaps there is some other ingredient you're not tolerating or your dose is too high. I don't know where you got your information from but ALA does not dispense glucose with your urine.

I've taken ALA for 5 years to help recirculate Vit C and E and help detox my liver. This is how ALA was first marketed.  It has help detox my liver for my monthly labs show a decrease in liver serum levels after taking it.  

I just started noticing claims about maintaining and lowering glucose levels but not seen test results to verify this, only claims. ALA hasn't done squat to lowering my glucose so until I see test results I wouldn't take it for diabetes alone.
