Prior to diagnosis of diabetes/hypothyroidism I lost my sense of smell and taste. Currently have been without smell and taste for 11 months. ENT can't find any abnormalities; best guess is that is is damage to nerve caused by several bouts with sinusitis.
Question now is this: is this loss also associated with diabetes? AND - why am I now having phantosmia? I sense the smell of something bad all the time - like a dirty catbox or spoiling meat. it's aggravating; especially in light of the fact that I'm a chef. HELP!
