Glucose monitoring normal

Glucose monitoring normal

I recently had a complete blood panel work-up. My hemoglobin A1c was slightly over the upper normal range as was my cholesterol. My Dr gave me a glucose monitor and prescriptions for Metformin (250 mg per day) and Crestor.
I will start the meds tomorrow but I did check my blood today - it was 81 before breakfast and 95 after dinner. Aren't those normal ranges ? And what should I expect once I start taking the meds?
Thanks for any feedback.

Nothing to drink or eat 10 hours before breakfast except water? How long after dinner? Minimum postprandial (after meal) is 2 hours but not longer than 4 hours for testing. If you met these criteria, your glucose appears normal at the time you tested, only. Your A1c say otherwise.

That really depends on you and what you will do to control your glucose levels. The meds will help stabilize your glucose and sometimes slightly lower them but you need to exert control by watching your nutrition (no bad carbs, no sugary foods, etc), proper portions, body weight, and exercise. These all help in greatly controlling your glucose levels. If overweight, lose the weight and you'll drop excess glucose like water.
