HELP!!

by briant401, May 30, 2009 06:53PM
I hoping someone can help!  I am a 35 year old male and during the day I get extremely exhausted, my mind starts racing and i get an extreme thirst like i have never had before.  It usually happens around 1 in the afternoon, usually after lunch, my body gets extrmely tired and i feel like i have to get up and move or else i am going to fall a sleep.  I also get extremely thirsty and can easily go thru 4 or 5 bottle of water in an hour and i also get a craving for sugar like jelly beans or gatorade.  I also find myself going to the bathroom every 10 mins both urinating and bowel movements.  These symptoms go away and come back until i get out of work and can take a nap.  My nap usually lasts for about 10 mins.  When I get home I take a hot shower and then feel 100% till i go to sleep.  I usually get 4 hours of sleep then wake up and have bouts of insomnia.  I also have a very active appetite, eat 3 meals a day plus snacks, i have also been gaining weight not loosing it. Yesterday my face got really red and was on fire all day, no sweating, my skin is unusually dry and crusty around my nose and cheeks and can be painful.  I also get tingling in my arm and leg usually on the left side and the back of my head.  After one episode i used my fathers meter and it was normal 100, I am going to see a doctor in a few days but wanted to know if anyone that has diabetes if this sounds familiar.

You need to haul yourself down to a doctors office and get checked out.
Get your glucose tested properly - OGTT and A1c test. Get tested for Hepatitis A, B and C and have your liver enzymes checked too. These could be related your exhaustion and skin disturbance. Your nutrition also is whacked  - snacking, jelly beans, gatorade - so get referred to a nutritionist/dietician to put you back on the right track to eating healthy.

Another possibilty could be "Insulin Resistance." It sounds like you have several symptoms that indicate that. Or, your Thyroid could be acting up. Check with an Endocrinologist. He/she should check both areas.
