Insulin

Is is safe to use HGC drops with the diet and take insulin, too? How do you go about cutting back on the insulin as the HGC and weight loss brings down the glucose readings?

Fad diets and unregulated wholistic medications are pretty risky for insulin dependent diabetics. I encourage you to use a more conventional method of weight loss.

As for cutting back on insulin as weight loss brings down glucose readings: I highly recommend the book Using Insulin by John Walsh which is an excellent reference for managing insulin dosing. But in general good safe protocol is to wait until you see a pattern in your blood sugar numbers before you make changes, not just one or two readings. Then make changes conservatively a unit or two at a time and watch the results for a few days before making another change. Of course if you are experiencing lows you want to treat them as appropriate with glucose tabs and perhaps test more often.
