Not yet diabetic but my feet are tingling

I am pre-diabetic, fasting glucose around 120.  I have insulin resistance so they've been checking my blood sugar at least yearly and this is the highest I've been.  My question is, after walking or other exercise I get pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  I can't have diabetic neuropathy yet, can I?  My sugar levels haven't been high enough to cause damage.  But I can't figure out what else could be causing this.  Any ideas?

There needs to be more than yearly glucose testing. An A1c test will help determine how well your glucose is under control. You should obtain a home glucose test meter from your doctor who should provide you with instructions as to how and when to test.

Unfortunately, I Googled your question and many different reasons appeared. It is possible that there is nerve irritation in the back or buttocks causing these symptoms.
The first symptom of Diabetic Neuropathy is often numbness, tingling, or pain in the feet. Symptoms are often minor at first, and because most nerve damage occurs over several years, mild cases may go unnoticed for a long time. Please schedule an appointment with your doctor and get checked for DN.
