My age is 49 and i am from north india and a vegetarian. While walking in the morning and after completion of approx. 2 kms the pain start from thighs and go to down slowly and stay between  the portion of  ankle and its above area, in such manner that i could not walk more. Your pain doesn't sound if your diabetes is the problem - even though you could try a little harder to get your fasting numbers lower -  but more related to sciatic nerve issues. Try this simple test; if you squat, sit or lie down does the pain go away. If it does, it is your sciatic nerve. Try to get an MRI of your lower back to see if you have a bulging disc pressing against a sciatic nerve. If not, a neurologist can perform two test; 1.) a simple blood draw to see if your brain is sending out muscle enzymes; 2) an electrical test to see if your nerves respond correctly.
