Seizures and Diabetes

My daughter (5) was diagnosed last April with Type 1 diabetes.  She is taking 70/30 insulin.  8 units in the am and 4 in the evening most days.  She has been running high in the afternoons.  Her last A1 - C was 6.6 the previous one was 6.3.  One big change was starting preschool in August.  Now she is having absence seizures for 5 - 20 seconds.  I don't want more medicine, but want to know the best way to combat both of these and the likelihood of them being related.
