Sick

It seems like a been carrying a fever on and off for about 3 to 4 days. Does having diabetes cause you to hold on to sickness longer? Of course since I'm sick my sugars are all out of wack and can't keep anything down. Even liquids it all comes back up.

Yes, diabetes can make it harder to recover from illness. It also definitely influences blood sugar so you might have to make an adjustment in your insulin, though it sounds as if you aren't getting much nutrition so that could balance out high numbers. Do be sure to keep hydrated and to check your blood sugar on a regular basis. If your numbers are extremely high you need to go to the ER because you might have DKA (which presents similar to the flu). There are also strips you can get to check for ketones in your urine if your numbers are very high. (as in 300+). I hope you feel better soon.

"....been carrying a fever for about 3 to 4 days."
Fever can be one of the symptoms of a flu-like illness, like H1N1. Go see a doctor today!

Well I didn't go see the doctor by I called him the day before yesterday and started taking Zyrtec and I took some Tylenol. So far my fever has broken and came down out of the 100's and down to 98.8. The only thing is I'm still congested with vomiting if I eat regular food. As of right now I'm still drinking lots of water, eating light soups, and eating jell-o. Lately it seems like I go to the doctor like every week. I was just there a week or so ago cuz I had what the doctor said a stomach virus, but my symptoms were different. It was still vomiting, but diarrhea and no sore throat.

Look, one cannot go on for weeks with a fever. You had/have something lingering from last week that carried into your present state. If your current doctor did nothing but send you home, I suggest you find one that has interest in caring for your health & well being. And, why are you taking Zyrtec for fever? Zyrtec is an allergy med. Continue drinking lots of water. Go see a doctor a different doctor. Get a second opinion.

yeah I might have to go...I just hate it because my doctor always try to put me in the hospital. It's probably not the flu if Zyrtec is working it might have to do with allergies or sinuses. Thanks for all the help from you and Zoe.
