I was wondering if anyone has expierenced the same problem I am having. I was told I needed to lose a minimum of 10 % of my body weight to lessen the type 2 I did so losing actually 18% of my body weight now the question I have is why is my A1C still in the 7's and my sugars poor. They made such a fuss about if I lose the weight I will see results in my sugars and A1C. I am stumpped and my Dr doesnt seem to have an answer either except to come back in April for another round of blood work.
Can someone help in explaining why the weight loss has not helped. At this point I am only 20 pounds off from my reccommeded weight so I am not considered obese but at this point I am still overweight.
But, to be completely safe, you really do want to have monthly check-ups with your doc to monitor your weight, blood pressure, fasting blood sugars, and urine protein, just to make sure that no other potential issues might be going on.
Again, congrats on the weight loss! If you were initially overweight and you managed to decrease your weight 18% that's awesome!
Let us know your actual test results (A1C and range of daily fasting/waking blood sugars)and folks here can probably offer you more specific suggestions...
