can long term use of insulin, 25 years, affect beta cells to the point of being told i'm type I, because of low c-peptide
always been type II and have insulin resistance. have gone from 20 units to 190 per day. .

No, you don't change from being Type II to being Type 1. Some people (I'm one of them) were originally misdiagnosed as Type 2 and are in fact Type 1 (or LADA/1.5) but your Type if correctly diagnosed does not change. It is a natural progression of the disease after 25 years for you to no longer be producing much or any insulin and thus have a low c-peptide. Your insulin resistance which has dramatically increased your insulin dosage is THE chief characteristic of Type II.
