diabetes type 2 & lv global hypokinesia

my father -in-law aged 67 yrs. has been a patient of type2 diabetes for the past 10 yrs. A month ago he had to be hospitalized where he was diagnosed of pneumonia and given a treatment. About 10 days ago he again had lot of coughing and loss of apetite . Went ot a cardiologist who diagnosed him with lvef of 35% and water in the lung for which he gave him a course of Amikacine500 b/d for 5 days alongwith some ace inhibitors. After 5 days he lost his apetite completely alongwith burning sensation in git and nausea , vomitting and hiccups after every 15-20 minutes. His urine output got reduced and creatinine went upto 5.7 and urea 108. Again hospitalized and given dialysis. The nephrologist informed about acute kidney faliure .Can this sudden problem be drug induced (Amikacine)? the recent echo done indicated lvef of 15% . what are the chnces of his recovery and what precautions should we take in future?

There are no doctors on this diabetes forum, we are patients assisting other patients. You question should be addressed to the doctor who administered Amikacine. It's quite possible using Google search you may find your answer.
