symptoms of diabetes

by dink71, Apr 03, 2007 12:00AM
My husband has a family hx of diabetes, both mother and father, but no brothers or sisters, he is overweight, 5'9, and 260lbs. Smokes about 1-2 packs of cigarettes a day, and doesnt watchhis diet at all. sometimes I notice a sweet smell on his breath, even when he hasnt eaten anything, i have noticed though sometimes I notice it after he smokes, I work in family practice and I have heard that it is a symptom of diabetes (the sweet smell) but then I have also worked in oncology and that was another rumor in that office that lung cancer sometimes leaves a sweet smell on your breath, he did recently have a cxr done, and it came back clear.
