I had found out I have GD also and I'm very careful with what I eat I cried when I found out but it's nothing you can actually prevent it's just that your pancreas due to the pregnancy is having a hard time keeping up. As long as you control it with diet you should be fine I have had no issues controlling it just follow what they say and you will be OK. Your key here is to eat lots of green veggies and lots of protein, protein cancels out most carbs so stick to high protein low carbs little to no sugar and you will be good. Also take short walks after eating and drink lots of water. Good luck

Exercise is great.  Stay away from sugar.  If u have to have it use sugar substitute or sugar free.

Im one of the lucky ones who have eaten crappy during pregnancy but still am healthy.Im shocked my blood pressure and sugar levels are normal.

If you are not able to control with diet and exercise, you will need to use insulin.  Do not be scared of this.  It is not as bad as it may sound, and it will enable you to control your blood sugar more easily.

let us know how your appointment went.

I have had 2 pregnancies using insulin.

Keep up the good work.  not long and your baby will be here.

After you delivery your little one, do breast feed if you can.  it is known to help with blood sugar control (as well as being best for baby).

Hopefully your dr will check blood sugar after delivery and all will be fine.  However, in future you should have regular check of blood sugar (maybe 1/6 months), as women who have gestational diabetes have a much higher risk of developing diabetes later.
