I'm 33 weeks and have gestational diabetes...frequent urinating is a sign of diabetes and pregnancy... I'm on a low dosage of meds that i take before bed. My sugar levels are now under control because of the meds, exercise, and diet. I've even dropped a few pounds... I have family history of diabetes but, i didn't have it before pregnancy...

I had gestational diabetes with my first and Dr's seem to think I had it before I got pregnant with my second. I have been checking my sugars since about 12 weeks 4 times a day and am now 27 weeks and haven't gained weight due to altering my eating habits. They gave me my glucose test sooner just to be sure and it came back positive. As long as you take care of yourself and eat healthy you should be ok if you come back positive for your test. I ended up on insulin with my firstborn and don't want to do that again. Good luck!

Being hungry and thirsty and peeing ALOT are normal signs of pregnancy. I'm overweight....had all those same symptoms and don't have gestational diabetes.

Before you got pregnant did you have type 2? Does anyone in your family have diabetes? Also how overweight can play a factor. I was tested early at 14 weeks b/c I was type 2. I am considered obese.I had issues with my sugars overnight. I was on insulin by 20 weeks overnight. Now at 34 weeks I was given short acting. If you are concerned request you glucose tolerance test Early.
