I have a child 8 years old diagnosed type 1 DM one month ago .his suger that time was 600 mg/dl keton 2+ . his suger controlled now on insulin . how i know he is type 1 or type 2 ? his doctor requested islet cells antibodies . At the same time he told us that may be my child still on honey moon period .
what about treatment with stem cell . if it had a good result .if so where the place for stem cell treatment?

600 is very high. Is your child overweight? Do you have the reults from the antibody test? The honeymoon period is when the cells are dying but there are still enough to keep the body functioning - especially when aided by the extra insulin. Stem cell treatment is still not an accepted treatment. There is also the factor that something caused the body to kill the cells in the first place [the reason for the islet cell antibody test]. There is a good chance that would happen again.
