13 year old diabetic- is it just puberty?

My 13 year old daughter is a type 1 diabetic. She was diagnosed at age 3. We have had fairly good control up until last January 2010. She was hospitalized for DKA( her first but not last time). She started her period for the first time 2 days after she was released. She has been in the hospital 7 times since. At first I thought it was the hormones making her insulin resistant but now I am not so sure. We were just released after 8 days in the hospital this January. She also developed acute pancreatitis. I do not believe that all the keytones and high blood sugars she is experiencing are just due to diabetes. I think there may be something else going on. She has been tested for Addisons, Celiac, and thyroid and is negative. Any thoughts for me to investigate would be appreciated. Her poor body can not take much more of this.
