DIABETES - JUVENILE TYPE I COMMUNITY
Actos

Actos

Hi,

1.  Can someone tell me what Actos Pioglitazone HCL 15 mg Tablet is
for and how it can help Diabetic?

2.  Is there an article or simple write-up about what Diabetes is.
I would like to send the write-up to my Manager and HR
Department so they are well informed.  I also have acting
manager who just left for 4-months leave who would call me in
his office and give me hassle about small things and that
obviously would raise my bsl's as I am on receiving end.  I am
also worried and hope it would not back fire on me.  I still
feel it is better that they understand the condition since I am
not the only one who is Insulin Dependent Diabetic at my
    workplace.

Thank you, thank you!

First I have to let you know that I am not a medical professional. I can only give you input based on my own personal experience and knowledge.

I am the mother of a 9-1/2 year old diabetic. He was diagnosed at the age of 3. Also, my sister is a diabetic and was diagnosed eight years ago at the age of 24. (Both of them are Type I)

I am answering your 2nd question first because I have the information at my fingertips.  (Every year I make sure my son's new teacher at school gets a packet:)  ...her homework.  You are smart for wanting your employer to be better informed.

We can never assume that people even know what diabetes is.  The below url should help....ignore that it says for teachers!
http://www.childrenwithdiabetes.com/d_0q_200.htm
(also, after going to the above page....look around that site...there is a lot of helpful info.)

For ques. #1...I am not familiar with this med., but after searching, this is what i found (it sounds like it is used more for Type 2)

for the improvement of glycemic control in patients with Type 2 diabetes as monotherapy, or in combination with a sulfonylurea, metformin or insulin when diet and the single agent does not result in adequate glycemic control.

Please ask your doctor.

Glad to hear the acting manager just left for 4 months!!! He'll be out of your hair!  LOL

I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to inform the people around you, especially so they can help you if you are low and cannot help yourself.  But make a mental note...we cannot expect them to EVER Fully understand...so certain things we have to let go in one ear and out the other.

Best of luck to you at the workplace and keep taking care of yourself:)
