Am I okay?

by SamanthaJo, Sep 18, 2007 12:00AM
My mother has just recently found out she has type 2 Diabetes & so we checked my blood sugar & it was 59. lately we've been checking it everyday. It is always in the 60's or 70's!!
Should I be concerned?

Hello, SamanthaJo.  You should be commended for checking yourself even though you didn't show signs.  Consistent low blood sugars may not be a problem.  It may be a symptom of hypoglycemia, where you have a problem keeping your blood sugars high enough, but it could also be a symptom of you just needing to change your diet.  I wouldn't be too concerned, but I would make an appointment with your doctor to verify your symptoms.
