Are blood blisters on your feet bad for type 1 diabetics?

I know as a diabetic you are supposed to take really good care of your feet, but I just developed a blood blister (about a cm big) on my big toe due to exercising. I've never had one before but should I just let it heal by itself or is there something I should do to help it (see a doctor, antibiotic ointment, etc...)? I don't know how serious it is for diabetics, so I don't want to touch it just yet. Help?
