Can Diabetes Cause Other Health Problems?

Can Type 1 Diabetes cause other health problems?  If so what are they?

by Forum-Staff-LRS, Jul 24, 2003 12:00AM
Diabetes is often associated with several other conditions, including issues with blood pressure, thyroid, kidneys & eyes.
There's been good evidence that controlling our blood sugar levels helps us minimize and/or delay the onset of potential complications, so we do have some influence.

It's a good idea to talk with your diabetes specialist (endocrinologist) about your particular risks, to get referrals to other specialists as needed, and to get routine screening & evaluation tests done.
