Diabetes & Depression

Hi I'm 24 years old,type 1 diabetes since i was 8 years old,sufffering sometimes from hypoglycemia but my major oroblem is depression esp when i have an attack of severe hypoglycemia or some complications as  oral candidiasis for ex.It affect all my life i don't want to study or go out or do any of my hobbies,feeling so lonely & couldn't even seek help.PLZ HELP ME,THANK YOU.

i am not a physican, but i would suggest you talk to your endocrologists about your lows, and seek some help for your depression.  i would also suugest you go to www.jdrf  to the online support team. they might have some one who has more knowedge to h.  sorry i could not be of more help. elp you

Your feelings are not at all unusual. I think most type 1's, including myself, have suffered such depression many times. Sometimes to such a great degree that our control and health suffers, along with our self esteem and social life. Please do seek out counseling, a psychologist familiar with the issues of dealing with chronic illness if possible. I know it can be expensive, but for me it has made the difference between being defeated by complications and other issues, and regaining my strength to go on and live a mostly normal and fulfilling life.

Hi Memora,
Your dealing with basic diabetic problems. Be careful with antidepressants they can cause a lot of trouble. I have had type 1 diabetes for a long time and know what your dealing with I am too. Contact me if you want to talk maybe I can help.
