Diabetes and Insulin Pumps

by angelalexander, Dec 01, 2007 12:00AM
What is the best insulim pump for your money? I currently have the Medtronic Minimed 715. I have been researching about the omnipod. Does anyone know if it is reliable since it has no tubing involved?

Hello.  I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes.  She is on the Medtronic 522 pump.  Basically all pumps are in about the same price range and provide the same functionality.  I know lots of people on the Omnipod, and they like it.  It is very reliable, the biggest downside is that it is bulky.  If you've ever heard of Team Type 1 (http://www.teamtype1.org/), they all wear the Omnipod.

Basically it comes down to personal preference and what features you like on the pump.
