Diabetes or what?

by 5kings, Nov 12, 2007 12:00AM
thank you. my son is 2. He has had seizure types since age 6m. his EEG is normal. ER doesn't know.his symptoms are-he screams, then his heart races, his eyes move back and forth.(like he had been spinning) Second some days he fall down a lot, with nothing he tripped over, falls down stairs, like bad eye perception-walks into things and goes to turn head and bumped head.
Third-he eats a lot, not overweight.  he drinks a lot of water mostly. pees a lot too.  He has told me his feet hurt (not sure if it is his ingrown nail) he sleeps all over his bed and floor sometimes. he does eat healthy(salads)! and a active boy. I found out recently that 2 of my Uncles on (mothers) side have Diabetes. If he is very high under this. What is are all the tests-please just direct me. thank you very much.

i am not a physican , but the mom of a type1 diabaetic and the daughter of a type 2.  what ypu are discribing does not sound like diabetes.  i w ould suugest that you speak to your doctor about your concerns.  he/ she would be the best to tellyou what type of specialist to see to find out what is causeing these problems.

I would also get his blood sugar checked though. Not all of the symptoms sound like diabetes. But it can't hurt to check the blood sugar to see. I could have diagnosed my diabetes a lot sooner if I realised that my infection from an ingrown toenail that wouldn't go away was caused by high blood sugar.

He should have a Hemoglobin A1C test or just a simple blood glucose test.

Have his blood sugar tested then find out if he has torrets syndrome or virdigo. These can be debilitating. Watch him close. Some kids have very active kidney function. Pay attention to how much liquid he takes in and if he pees out more than that it could be high blood sugar. I hope I could help.
