Diabetic with CHF, renal failure

My diabetic brother is 60 with heart failure,congestive failure,renal disease,high BP,disorders of lipoid metabolism,high chlosterol,low blood sugar,low vision blindness,chronic ischemic heart. He is taking 19 medicines and 5 insulin shot a day.Heart's working 30% and had 5 bypass 10 yrs. ago. Dr wants our input on cardiac catherization. If agree then kidneys shut down and has to start dialysis immediately. What's my family member's prognosis? And life expectancy????

I'm so sorry to hear about your brother's struggles.  We are volunteers here and not medical professionals, so none of us can give you the kinds of answers you're seeking at this point.

It seems that you have a very difficult decision to make, where your brother will have still have serious medical issues with any choice you make.  I'd encourage you to speak with his doctors ... and with him ... on the risks involved.

You might also consider reaching out to a social worker who can work with your family, since there are likely many emotions that a social worker can help you all to recognize and to adjust to.
