Dizzy spells, ear ringing, and vomiting

My grandfather has type 2 diabetes, he is very healthy, food concious, exercises. Then 3 months ago he began having episodes were his ear would ring, get dizzy, have sharp headlike syptoms (symptoms), and in some cases excessive vomiting. He has been do the doctor several times but all tests seem to come back negative and now there episodes are happening more often and he is unable to leave the house because he is oftern getting dizzy. What could this be, what should he be tested for? Please help!

Hello.  I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes.  You don't say what he's already been tested for, so I'm just going to guess.  If I were him, I'd get checked for an inner ear infection.

I agree with the inner ear suggestion. My father is a type 2 diabetic who is in fairly good control and hardly ever gets sick with anything. Recently he started having woozy spells and the vomiting. THey thought it was a stomach bug to begin with, but with more research found it was an inner ear infection. He was treated for that with some antibiotics and he is now fine. The ears have a lot to do with your equilibrium and can throw things off if infected (i.e. the dizzyness and vomiting can be caused from the dizzyness and headaches). Worst case scenario, you have to keep having tests run, best case, it is an infection and can be treated quickly.
