Fasting glucose numbers for a type 2 diabetic

by Fl954, Jun 09, 2007 12:00AM
Hi...I'm a type two diabetic...I'm tryting to control of my diabeties...with diet...incorporting more fiber...cinnamon...whole wheat bread for example...losing weight...taking my meds...a little excerise...etc..

Now..Since I am a diabetic...I've been testing myself three times a day...once in the morning as a blood fast...another time in the afternoon after my meals at work..like breakfast and lunch when I get home..and a few hours after my dinner...

What is considered a good number to have for a diabetic..I've been averaging about 109 to 126...the highest usually after my dinner...

I'm I doing well with my numbers or do I have a long way to go? I haven't been in the 150-210 range in over 6 months...

Any suggestions for me to get my numbers lower if I'm not doing well?

Congratulations, for your numbers looks good. Most doctors that I have been to like to have their diabetic patients aim for before-meal (fasting) glucose readings of between 70-126. After meals, the articles I have read state that sugar levels can rise to about 146 before a patient is considered having diabetic levels. So my opinion (not a doctor, but as another diabetic) is that your numbers seem to be very comfortably in the normal range right now. Do keep up the good work!
