I smell nail polish remover on my childrens breath

by Benhansam, Jan 12, 2009 09:07PM
Well, this is my first post here and frankly, I feel a little silly.
I have two boys, ages 10 and 5.
Anytime they have begun to not fell well, and they give me kisses, I can smell the smell of acetone nail polish remover on theire breath.  I always  jokingly called it "sick breath" because I could tell if they were not feeling well just by smelling them.I felt  I was the only Mom who had experienced this litle anomoly, and for once I decided to do a little interenet research on the subject, which led me to an alarming discovery...this may actually be a serious blood sugar problem and not just a Mother's strange sense of scent.  HMMMM....
I have always supected that there was something I was missing in regards to my boys health, but I am a natural worrier, and so I have dismissed it, yet I was astounded to find so many many many pages of info on childrens breath smelling like nail polish..  I thought maybe I would find some obscure reference, but never expected the volume of information I uncovered.  Now, I am (obviously) planning on making an appointment with the Ped's tommorrow, but was hoping to get any information from the forum that might help me.  (What tests should I insist on and what are not necessary, etc,)
I thank you all in advacef or any help or advice you are able to provide.
Warmly,
Heather
