Increased Insulin intake

by amybrand, Nov 01, 2008 04:53AM
My Husband, Type 1, is on a pump and his insulin intake keeps increasing. He was using 75-80 units of Humanlog a day and over the last month he is currently around 120 plus units a day.  He started body building 2years ago, has gained weight from 160 to now 225lbs, works out 5 days a week for the past 2 years, this insulin increase has only been recent (well it has increase a little at a time over the past two years & weight gain). His diet has changed since he started body building, but that has been for the last 2 years, nothing has really changed (that we can think of) over the past month or two to cause this increase, not sick, does not drink or do drugs, no changes in any meds, same eating habits (lots of protein),  any ideas?  He has an appointment with his endo, but that is a month away and I'm worried. thanks!
