Infusion Site problem

by Jason2007, Aug 03, 2007 12:00AM
I'm 14 years old and only weigh 110 pounds. I'm been on the pump for about 3 months and it has been going fine until now. I have been inserting my infusion set in my rear check ever since I been on the pump but my numbers have gone up the last couple weeks because I cant find a site. Can someone please help me?

Hi, Jason.  Have you tried using other sites, such as the back of your arms, your legs, or your stomach?  If you can take a shot in an area of your body, you can put a site there as well.  My daughter is 10 and weighs 95 pounds, and doesn't have a problem finding a site because she keeps moving it around.

Yes but everytime i put it in my stomach it hunts and i have to take it out right away. I tryed my leg today and it just stung so again i had to take it out again and put one in my rear again. I don't really want to try my arm because it is so small.

My son is currently 4 years old and weighs 40 lbs. He is on the Minimed Paradigm pump. He uses the 6mm 90degree angle infusion site. This allows for a tiny needle, and only little invaision of the actual site inside of his body. You may ask for another infusion site type from your medical provider. My son uses his tummy (dirictly next to his belly button), his hips above his pantline, his upper buttocks, and his thighs(he doesnt like the thighs as much.) I have not convinced him onto a arm yet, but our friend a female 4 year old, does use her arms with the 6mm 90degree sets.

Best of Luck
