Interview on Diagnosis- Please Help!

My name is Megan, I have been a juvenile diabetic for 6 years. I am working on my senior project for graduation. This project requires a research paper with at least 1 interview and a physical product. My research paper is the cause and effect of Juvenile Diabetes on a persons psyche and physical body. My product is mentoring newly diagnosed diabetic. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to answer a few questions for me.

1) How did you feel when you were first diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes?

2) What was your initial fear? Do you have a new fear today? If so what is it?

3) Did you go through periods of Depression, Denial, Anger, Eating Disorders or grief? If so, which ones and how long did that last, and when did they occur in diagnosis?

4) What problems do you face today with your Juvenile Diabetes?

5) What was the hardest adjustment you went through?

6) Have you ever wondered why me? Why/when?

I can't help you with the newly diagnosed questions because I have had diabetes for  27 years.  But I did want to reply to you.  I did go through many of the symptoms you named and had an eating disorder for 10 years.  I still sometimes go through periods where I feel a little down about being diabetic, but nothing like how I felt when I was in my teens.  When I first got diagnosed it was kind of whirlwind with no time to really think-I was 10.  Later on is when the depression and anger hit.  Now I am not angered or depressed, but feel irritation or annoyance because my diabetes takes more work to be able to do all I want to do--meaning exercise and run around with my kids and just doing the things I want to do when I want to do them.  But I have come to terms with my diabetes and am very healthy and have very good HbA1c tests.  I don't think I would be the person I am today without the diabetes(though I still wish I didn't have it)
