Judge of judgement

Can out of control bloods sugars ( high or low)  poor  glucose control,  and improper eating habits  effect the mood and behavior of a persons with type one diabetes? Does high blood sugars for a prolonged period of time  have an effect on  cognitive abilities such as judgement, reasoning, tolerance, frustration, aggression, and appetite,  like craving sugar laden foods? To put it Plainly,  high blood high blood sugar  impair judgement?

Hi.  I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes.  Absolutely, high and low blood sugars cause visible and recognizable changes in mood and behavior.  High blood sugars cause a person to be tired, moody, and give them headaches, which most certainly can affect judgement.  Highs will also cause a person to be more hungry, because the body doesn't think it's getting the food it needs to continue working, so it asks for more.

Lows most certainly affect mood and behavior as well, because the brain is being deprived of the glucose that it needs to function properly.

Highs or lows do not cause a person to crave sugar laden foods.  That is a personal preference or choice.
