Keytones in sample

by adagostini, Aug 05, 2005 12:00AM
A while ago I thought I was buying from a pharmacy a pack of strips that would test for acid in your urine, but I got keytone strips instead.  My husband tests clear, but when I use them I always get a slight color.  It matches the color on the bottle for a trace.  Is this something I should have checked or is that in the normal range?

My grandfather had and my father has type II diabetes.

I have a neice who has type I.

I have been getting headaces when I wake up in the mornings sometimes.  That is really the only other symptom I can think I might have.

Thank you for your time and response.

The ketone strips also test for acid in the blood which diabetic ketoacidosis is a problem with that. If you are testing for trace i don't think that it has progressed very much but still would recommend a trip to the doctor for further testing. It may come back negative for diabetes or you could be in a stage sometimes referred to as a prediabetic stage. Check with your doctor, bret
